Like any good, horrifying movie, the true story that inspired it is always far more horrifying. Such is the case for a new movie that's coming out. A remake to a '70s cult classic titled: "
I Spit On Your Grave". It follows the natural horror/thriller storyline, a woman gets gang-raped by 5 men, then goes on a killing spree and creatively murders all of them. There is a boating incident, a large knife-meets-penis incident, a rope around the jaw hung over a tree incident. Great Hollywood magic. So here's the inspiration. A friend of mine informed me that the original version was written by a man who had a friend that was raped and saw how the police wouldn't even take her to hospital before they interrogated her with a ton of questions. She had a broken jaw on top of all the psychological trauma that comes with rape. He was so angered by this that he went and made a revenge fantasy/horror movie. To quench my thirst for the macabre, I will probably go see it. My friend, who gets unnerved every time she hears the title, will probably not. If you are a police officer, or someone who tends to assault/rape victims, please don't start asking the questions until after the victim has been at least seen by a doctor. Seriously.
